The ability to speak is one of the most unique abilities that we humans possess. Our words matter. This week, take time to reflect on the words that you say to your family, friends and colleagues. Are you using your voice to lift people up? Jesus is calling us through the scriptures to use the words we speak to lift people up instead of tearing them down. As Jesus tells us in the scriptures this week, we are called to bear good fruit in our lives.
Today, we will be having our annual Mardi Gras celebration in Guyot Hall immediately following the Noon Mass. Come celebrate the parish life of St Hyacinth and prepare ourselves for the season of Lent.
This Sunday is “DSF 2019 Commitment Sunday.” Cardinal DiNardo has sent everyone in the archdiocese an appeal letter and pledge card and he wants to encourage each and every one to become involved with DSF 2019. For 2019, Cardinal DiNardo has assessed our parish DSF goal at $84,000. I know that we are in difficult economic times, yet each of us has been blessed in so many ways, and we are called to share those blessings with others. The theme of DSF 2019 is “Do Not Neglect to Share What Love You Have.”
This week the Church is asking that take a moment to complete your DSF pledge envelope. Remember that your pledge can be paid in installments throughout the year. Any amount is most welcome. The DSF is a good and holy work and it is a way for us to continue our mission work here in our own diocese. When you have your pledge envelope ready, you can place it in the offertory, mail it or drop it by the office, or go on-line and donate electronically. Simply go to www.archgh.org/dsf and in three simple steps your pledge can be completed. By supporting the ministries of the Church we nurture and enrich our Archdiocese and we carry out the design of God; indeed, we bear lasting and living fruit.
We are in the process of organizing a Pilgrimage to Italy for October 2019. We plan to visit the cities of Venice, Padua, Siena Macerata, Florence, Assisi and Rome. From the dates of October 7th -18th, 2019, we will be visiting historical religious sites and museums along with celebrating Mass throughout the tour. Tour information flyers are in the Narthex near the monitor, or go to our website, Sthyacinth.org and click Parish Pilgrimage 2019 under the Parish Life tab, and or you can contact the parish office at 281-479-4298.

There is a new Safe environment program that is offered by the Archdiocese of Galveston Houston. The CMG Safe Haven online training is replacing the VIRTUS training. The training consists training videos that is approximately 60 minutes and will include a criminal background check that must be completed. All Safe Environment trainings will only be available online. All individuals must complete the training and complete a background check prior to the start of employment and/or volunteer service in the Church. Go to: https://GalvestonHouston.CMGConnect.org/or click the Safe Environment banner at St. Hyacinth.org.
Finally, I send out my sincere thanks to all who made a pledge for our Building Faith, Family and Future…our Sanctuary… our Home… Capital Campaign. I truly appreciate your generosity and support. Envelopes are in the Narthex along with our collection box specifically designed for our Capital campaign or you can do so online through the parish website. When you complete your donation envelope, drop it in the collection box, offertory basket, or mail it or bring it by the office at any time. Remember, we ask every family to consider an equal sacrifice, not an equal size gift. We all need to do our part our part, and every pledge, of every size, is most needed and welcomed. Thank you for doing your part to help us reach our goal.
