We pray almighty God, the resolve to run forth to meet your Christ with righteous deeds at his coming…..” with these words we begin our Advent walk with God and the new liturgical time is set. The Advent season is a time of waiting and anticipating, not just the celebration of Christmas, and the commemoration of Christ’s coming into the world incarnated in the flesh of an infant, but also the celebration of Christ’s Second Coming at the end of the world. We start Advent with looking forward to Christ’s Second Coming.
Now that the Holiday season is in full swing and there are several opportunities for our parish community to witness the love of Christ to those in need this season. The 2020Angel Tree Gift Card project has been ongoing for a few weeks now with the gift card collection boxes in the Narthex of the Church. We do have to remember that there is a need for donations for food in which SVDP will distribute please continue to bring your food donations and place them in the collation boxes in the narthex. Thank you for your generosity.
The next opportunity for you to give is to the parish itself. The 2020 STHY gift list is out and this presents a great opportunity to support our parish in a special way to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ. Check out the list in the bulletin or Sthaycinth.org and see how you can share the gift of Christmas with STHY.

As of this week we are $ 21,069 from reaching our DSF goal $84,000 for 2020 and we only have a few short weeks before the end of the year. This weekend, for our second collection, we will seek to close the gap on the amount need to complete our designated goal for our parish. I know that we are in difficult economic times, and we have been challenged to give in all kinds of ways, yet each of us has been blessed in so many ways, and we are called to share those blessings with others. We missed our DSF goal for 2019 by approximately $6,000 and this year we need the help of everyone so let’s pray and then give in order to reach our 2020 goal. If we do not make our DSF goal for the year, the balance that is due will come directly out of the operating expense of the parish. Thank you for your generosity.
On Friday December 4th, STHY will host a special day of Adoration, Penance and Prayer. From 8:00 am to 8:00 pm everyone will have to the opportunity for Prayer, Penance and Adoration of the blessed sacrament in the main church. Please use this special time of our parish to reconnect with God and the Church during the opening time of Advent. It would be a great way to start off the new liturgical year and get yourself in the right frame of mind for the approaching holidays.
Finally, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception is a Holy Day of obligation, and STHY will be two Masses on Tuesday December 8th at 8:00 am and 7:00 pm to commemorate this special day.
