Parish Update 2/3/23
Brothers and Sisters in Christ
Once again, thank you for all your prayers and support as we work to rebuild our community of St. Hyacinth.
We continue to have a lot of work to do.
The contractors are still on the Church complex grounds and are continuing to evaluate the damage to the Church complex buildings.
Most of the heavy machinery is gone, and it has left the the Church complex looking like a war zone.
The contractors are working diligently to repair the roof of the rectory and the Guyot Hall. There was considerable damage to all the buildings on the complex.
The contractors are continuing to assess the collapsed Religious Education building and continue to remove debris from the site.
Even though the complex has power, thanks to the generators, there are significant issues to the facilities that are currently being addressed. Guyot Hall has power, however, the HVAC systems to the complex have been damaged due to the tornado and will have to be replaced. The rectory has power; and as of today, I have heat.
We currently do not have any Church systems in place. We are working to implement a plan of action for a temporary office. In the meantime, please be patient as we move to get back online with the parish systems.
The 10:00 Am Sunday Mass is planned for this weekend in the Main Church. The mass will be livestream, so go to our parish website, our YouTube page to view the mass. However, All parish activities have been postponed.
In the meantime as well, I ask everyone to please continue to support St. Hyacinth. The Tornado has gone away, but the tornado did not stop the bills.
Please continue to pray for St. Hyacinth and the people of Deer Park as we move to recovery.
God Bless,
Fr. Reginald Samuels
