Parish Update 3/16/23
Brothers and Sisters in Christ.
First, this year, the Memorial of St. Patrick falls on Friday, March 17, a day of friendly social celebration for many American Catholics. Therefore, Cardinal DiNardo has offered the following dispensation from the obligation of abstinence from meat. While it is not required that anyone make use of this dispensation, those who do wish to make use of it are encouraged to do an extra act of charity or penance in exchange for eating meat on that day.
Next, this weekend, we will have the Saturday March 18th 5:00 pm Mass with Confessions at 3:00 pm. For Sunday, March 19th there will be the 8:00 am and 10:00 am Mass. See you at one of the Masses this weekend.
Due to the ongoing recovery, construction, and lack of infrastructure on the complex, we will need to continue to limit the activities on campus.
St. Claire will be hosting their annual St. Joseph Altar display and Spaghetti Dinner SUNDAY March 19 after the 11:00 am Mass. The faithful of St. Hyacinth has been invited The dinner is free, but in the tradition of St. Joseph Altars, this year St. Claire is donating the proceeds to St. Hyacinth Catholic Church to help with some of the expenses from the tornado. Thank the faithful of St. Claire for for your generosity.
Please remember that the storm destroyed all our parish systems and we do not have phones, computers, or systems, so I ask for patience as we move to restoration. If you need to contact someone at the parish, please use email. Contact information is on the website at Sthyacinthorg.
Next, please continue to pay special attention to parish updates on Facebook, Flock Notes, and the parish website, Sthyacinth.org for information regarding moving forward with parish activities regarding Faith Formation and Liturgy.
Please continue to pray for the St. Hyacinth Staff who have continually working diligently to make sure that the work of the St. Hyacinth continues even during this trying time without systems or infrastructure.
God Bless
Fr. Reginald Samuels
