As Christians our ultimate goal is to be Christ-like, to reflect the glory of Christ in all of our interactions and bring honor to God. In our pursuit of this righteous goal, the clearer we see Jesus, and we witness how He transforms our lives to be like His. In the Gospel this week, the symbolism of the face of Jesus changing in appearance is representative of His glory. As we witness His glory, we share that glory.
STHY will have our annual Lenten Penance Service on Tuesday, March 19th at 7:00 pm in the Church. We will have multiple priest confessors available for the Sacrament of Reconciliation that night. I encourage you to come and experience this most powerful and healing sacrament. Especially if you haven’t been to confession in a long time, now would be an ideal time to come and be reconciled to God and the Church. It would be a great way to end the Lenten Season and get yourself in the right frame of mind for Easter.
Saturday, March 23rd we will have our Sixth annual Parish Ministry Retreat. Orrin Halpeska, Deacon Heath Hampton, Fr. Jones Jayaraj, Maureen Bacchi, Kelly Chen, Matt Matthews, Connie Wilson, Gonzalo Ramos, Sharon Reese, Deacon Joe & Sandra Trevino, Deacon David Johnson, Deacon John Rapacki and Deacon Charles Pitman.
Our 2018 STHY parish mission will start on Sunday March 24th - March 27th at 7:00 pm with our mission host Deacon Bill Wagner . Deacon Bill has traveled all over the world offering engaging and inspirational missions. After a successful business career, Bill felt called to “give it all up” and live on faith preaching God’s word in the Church. Bill comes from a unique perspective and truly understands the struggles of attempting to live a Christian life in a secular world. You will not be disappointed in his real -life stories, wonderful sense of humor and compelling message.
With the season of lent, we welcome our Friday Fish Fry sponsored by our Knights of Columbus. Those of you who have attended in the past know that this dinner is not to be missed. Every Friday during Lent, from 5-7:30 p.m., the K of Cs will be serving a delicious fish dinner in the Parish Hall. Be sure and thank the Knights for their hard work on the dinners. It’s a great testament to stewardship in action, so thank you brother Knights!
Also following the Lent Fish dinners, every Friday we will have Stations of the Cross in the church beginning at 7:00 p.m. I hope many of you will want to spend 30-45 minutes on Friday nights with this popular Lenten devotion. It’s a great way to spend a Friday evening; come for dinner and stay for Stations.
