On this celebration of the Epiphany of the Lord we are called to ask God to lead us closer to the kingdom. God leads us just as surely as the star led the magi to Bethlehem. We are not in control, but we must trust in God’s loving presence and sure guidance. As we start a new year, this is the best opportunity to ask God to guide us through our lives in a new way. Let’s try not to limit God, but allow a limitless God to guide us through all the wonderful possibilities of our lives.
This Sunday’s readings remind us that we encounter God in a variety of people, places and situations. In the letter to the Ephesians, St. Paul states that both Jews and Gentiles were welcome into the kingdom. St Paul is telling us through the scriptures that all people bear God’s image. The question for us now: Do we treat others with the dignity in which God gives.?
I want to thank our entire ministry team who help bring to St. Hyacinth a wonderful Christmas liturgy. Without the Sacristans, Ushers, Greeters, Altar servers, Readers, Acolytes, Musicians, and Choirs; we could not have a Christmas celebration in the Church. With a special thanks to Mrs. Pamella Pitman our Director of Liturgy and Music for panning out the special liturgies for the season. Thank you all and your efforts are appreciated by everyone.
I want to congratulate and offer my gratitude to everyone here at St. Hyacinth who participated in the 2021 DSF campaign. We have reached our assessed commitment goal of $80,000 for DSF 2021. Cardinal DiNardo has sent his congratulations and appreciation for our efforts with completing this goal. Thank you all for your generosity in completing our goal!!
As we continue our Christmas and new Years’ celebrations, please join us for a wonderful evening of celebration with the Christmas Cantata “The Seven Noels”. This Cantata will weave together The First Nowell tune with original words to create a compelling frame for the beloved Christmas Story. The Cantata will be held next Sunday at 3:00 pm in the Church. Please come to the concert and support the music program here at STHY.
Beginning this Sunday January 2nd, Cardinal DiNardo has issued new guidelines in regards to returning to Mass. Go to Sthyacinth.org for more details.
We are aware that 2021 was a tough year for everyone. Going into the New Year, let’s continue to pray for all of those affected by the pandemic as well as all of the other ailments that have been affecting our community and world.
God Bless and have a blessed New Year!!!! Fr. Reginald Samuels
