In the gospel reading this week, we witness a woman who had been going through some major issues approach Jesus with faith. She believed in the Jesus’s power to heal and nothing was going to stop her from approaching Jesus. The woman elbowed her way through the masses to get close enough to Jesus to touch the fringe of his garment. Her hemorrhaging stops and she is healed.
This story of healing reveals that Jesus sees and loves each of us as individuals. As we witness in the gospel, Jesus was surrounded by the crowd, he still notices and extends kindness to the those that are suffering around him. As we witness the healing of the woman of our gospel, we know that we can be a part of the healing of Jesus as well.
Preparation and registration has begun for the Archdiocesan Youth Conference (AYC) which gathers participants from all over the local Church. AYC is the largest evangelizing event for older adolescents that the Archdiocese hosts annually. The youth conference will be held at the Hilton Americas Hotel on July 26-28, 2024. To Register for AYC go to AYC 2024 (swoogo.com). If you are interested in making a donation towards the AYC scholarship fund to help a youth of our parish attend who are unable to afford the full price, it would be GREATLY appreciated.
Next, mark your calendar for August 18, 2024 for the celebration of the 59th anniversary of our parish. Planning has already begun for the celebration of our parish with, food, fun and prizes. We will have further details as the weeks go by on how we can make the celebrations of our parish a wonderful event for the church and community.
I continue to ask you for your patience as we move into our new offices and building. Soo far it has been challenging with installing all the systems for the new building. In the meantime, we are still able to receive phone and email messages and we will do our best to return your messages in a timely manner.
Finally, the parish office will be closed July 4th and 5th due to the observance of the July 4th holiday. Please have a safe and wonderful July 4th holiday.
As a way to continue to celebrate God’s mercy Father Bernard Olszewski of Cross Catholic Outreach commissioned by Pope Francis in Rome as a Missionary of Mercy will be visiting our parish this weekend. Father will speak at all the Masses on behalf of the poor in developing countries. What a blessed occasion to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
