This weekend please welcome Rev. Patrick Keyes, C.Ss.R., who is a dedicated Redemptorist missionary priest. He will address our community about the crucial work undertaken by Redemptorist priests and brothers in their overseas missions in Brazil and Nigeria. A native of Milwaukee and ordained in 1989, Father Patrick has served as a formation director for Redemptorist students and has held pastoral roles in Colorado and Kansas, in addition to several years of ministry in Brazil. We warmly invite you to welcome Father Patrick and give your full attention to this significant Mission appeal.
Our life as a Christian is part of the paschal mystery, the dying and rising of Christ. All of creation is wrapped up in this paschal mystery. In today’s Gospel, Christ is inviting us to embrace not the things of the world but the things of God. We are called to embrace the eternal treasures of love and mercy, the joy that comes from selfless giving, and the satisfaction that comes for lifting the hopes and dreams of others.
In this week’s Gospel, we are presented with a vision of the end times. This vision is not meant to scare us, but to give us hope that in the end, God will be there for each of us. However, through the words of Jesus, we are all called to be prepared.
For the Month of November, The Book of the Names of the Dead will be in the baptismal area of the Church, for those who want to write the names of deceased loved ones whom we can pray for. One of the most beautiful responsibilities we have as Catholics is to pray for our dead. Through prayer, fasting and good works, we offer on behalf of the deceased, we pray that God’s purification will be granted to all of the faithful departed so that they can obtain their soul’s desire, eternal life in heaven. In communion with the faithful departed as members of the Church, it is our responsibility and privilege to assist them with our prayers and holy works.
The Christmas season and the time for giving is just around the corner. The 2024 St Hyacinth gift list has been released and this presents a great opportunity to support our parish in a special way to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ. Check out the list in the bulletin and see how you can share the gift of Christmas with the parish.
