The Gospel this week calls us to reconciliation. God calls us to build and maintain relationships through cooperation. If we are serious about building the kingdom on earth, we must be intentional about how we deal with each other in a healthy way. With the help of God’s love we can move toward forgiveness and resolve toe conflicts that we have in our lives.
During this time unprecedented challenges in the Church, I am encouraging the entire Church community to use our electronic formats for the dissemination of information from our parish. We have our website: Sthyacinth.org, Flocknotes, and Facebook. Please go ahead and subscribe to our St. Hyacinth YouTube channel for videos and live stream updates, and video of the Sunday Mass. All these features are can be access on our parish website, Sthyacinth.org.
There is a program that I want to challenge everyone to watch on FORMED.org. “Put Not Your Trust in Princes” By Christopher Check. Mr. Check speaks to the time that we are in and provides a catholic perspective of the crisis of our age. The FORMED.org parish password is 77GVZ3.
We are living in constantly changing times, but two things that are not changing are our devotion to our parish and it's needs. We know many of our lives have been turned upside down in the last 5 months. The STHY has been too. We need, same as you, to know what's coming in so we can budget what goes out. I'm not asking you to give more; I'm asking you to give DIFFERENTLY. By going to the website and signing up for RECURRING online giving, you let the parish know we can count on your support weekly. Open our Hearts: a Pastoral letter on racism was released in 2018 by the United States Catholic Conference of Bishops. The USCCB describes this letter as “But racism still profoundly affects our culture, and it has no place in the Christian heart. This evil causes great harm to its victims, and it corrupts the souls of those who harbor racist or prejudicial thoughts. The persistence of the evil of racism is why we are writing this letter now.” I am challenging every one of our parish to go download this letter and review it. Please go to parish website and click directly on the banner/ tile named “Open our Hearts” and it will take you to the pastoral letter.
The Knights of Columbus Council 10574 are taking orders for a Tamale Sale. Tamales will be available in Pork, Chicken, or Bean and can be mild or spicy. The cost is $12.00 per dozen and all profits from the sale will be donated to the church. Orders can be placed by email at [email protected] and by text or phone at 956-245-5237. Pick up day will be September 19, 2020 from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM by drive through in the church parking lot on "P" Street. Thank you for supporting the Knights of Columbus and the Church.
Cardinal DiNardo has addressed everyone in the Archdiocese with a letter in regards to the Hurricane Laura relief efforts for our neighbors in East Texas and Louisiana. A special Hurricane Laura relief resource page has been set up at www.archgh.org/laurarecovery .This page will be updated as new information becomes available regarding the needs in Beaumont and Lake Charles in the aftermath of the storm.
Finally, I want to remind everyone that our offices are closed on Monday September 7th , for Labor Day. Please keep all who labor in your prayers as we honor the dignity of human work on that day. Let us all pray also for those searching for gainful employment in these times and those who have recently been downsized, laid off or seen a reduction in their pay or work hours. May they not become discouraged and may God open new doors for them soon.
