St. Hyacinth Catholic Church Job Description Custodian (Application in the parish office)
Position Title: Custodian
Accountability: Accountable to the Pastor and Business Administrator. Primary Function of this position:
The Custodian assignments are to clean floors, windows, fixtures, stairs, restrooms and doors. The cleaning process is normally done with brooms, mops, brushes and cleaning cloths.
The Custodian must take care of all the public bathrooms making sure that they are clean and kept clean.
The Custodian must make sure all trash is removed from the Church, Religious building and Guyot Hall, Church complex (outside) daily.
Ensure that the facilities are open / unlocked for the various parish functions and parish organization.
Ensure that the parish facilities are closed / locked up, secure and armed after all the various parish functions and parish organizations have completed their meetings and functions.
Examples of Duties:
Lock and secure all doors to the parish complex
Ensure that alarm is set to the church complex buildings once event and or functions are done for the evening.
Sweeps, mops, floors in Church, Religious Education building and Guyot Hall.
Dusts and/or polishes furniture, blinds, windows and equipment.
Cleans all restrooms and fills dispensers in Church, Religious Education building and Guyot Hall.
Cleans all kitchens in the Religious Education building and Guyot Hall.
Vacuums, spot cleans, and/or shampoos rugs, carpets, and furniture using vacuum cleaners and shampooing equipment.
Reports malfunction of bathroom fixtures, light fixtures, and/or damages to Church, Religious Education Building and Guyot Hall furnishings to Maintenance supervisor.
Stocks Church, Religious Education Building and Guyot Hall bathrooms, kitchen areas, and other areas of the complex with appropriate supplies.
Locks and unlock, Arm or Disarm doors of Church, Religious Education Building and Guyot Hall as directed. Make sure all doors to Church, Religious Education building and Guyot Hall are locked at the end of the work day.
Initiates work orders for repair/maintenance.
Moves furniture, tables, equipment, or fixtures as required.
Washes dishes or utensils as required.
Pick up trash in parking lots and yard daily.
Move delivery items to designated room(s) or storage facilities.
Performs additional miscellaneous assignments as instructed.
