Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ Do your possessions possess you? In the gospel today, Jesus says,” Take care to guard against all greed, for though one may be rich, one’s life does not consist of possessions.” Greed can creep into any aspect of our lives and we must be careful. If we do not learn to share then will not be able to receive. We have the capacity to be greedy in ways that are not just monetary.
To fight greed in our lives, we have to step back an take a hard look at what we treasure and value. The Sunday’s parable is a clear lesson for each and every one of us. Generosity is the only cure for greed. If we are not generous in our lives, then our own possessions will possess us.

Finally, pray for the young people of our parish who are participating in the Archdiocese Youth Conference at the Hilton of the Americas, AYC 2022 here in Houston this weekend. This year’s annual summer outreach to high school aged youth will take place under the theme “Everlasng Mercy.” This year’s theme is based on the scripture Luke 1:49-50 - “for the Almighty has done great things for me. Holy is his name, and his faithful love extends age a^er age to those who fear him.” This theme was recommended by the Archdiocesan Youth Council and approved by His Eminence Daniel Cardinal DiNardo. With this scripture in mind, AYC will focus on receiving God’s mercy as well as sharing God’s mercy with those we encounter. AYC 2022 is offering our local parish youth the opportunity to be challenged by some of the best speakers in the country. All participates are being blessed with powerful witness and messages from major presenters: Danny Ray, Fr. David Michael Moses, and Sr. Josephine Garred, CSFN. Josh Blakesley and his band are providing music ministry throughout the conference, and we welcome our Emcee Alex Gotay. Mr. Gotay has led several of STHY’s Confirmation retreats over the last few years. Please continue to pray for the young people of our parish.
