Jesus is very clear in the Gospel this week when he tells us to “Remove the wooden beam from you eye first, then you will see clearly to remove the splinter in your brother’s eye.” Our words and actions reveal what is in our hearts. We must take the time to examine our own actions in this life to grow in our own relationship with God.
For Ash Wednesday (March 2nd ) at STHY, we will be offering one Mass and three Liturgies of the Word services with ashes. St Hyacinth, like every parish in the Archdiocese, has a set goal for the 2022 Diocesan Services Fund. Currently our goal is $84,000. Your help is crucial in meeting this goal, which will provide the necessary funds for the ministries that help hundreds of thousands every year. If we as a parish beat our goal, we will see a 50% return of every dollar by which we exceed our goal and the remaining funds will go to assist the parishes with the greatest need. Additionally, our parish will receive 50% back on every donation made by first time donors, so your help is crucial!
Information on how you can support the Diocesan Services Fund can be found in the bulletin, Sthaycinth.org and online at www.archgh.org/dsf. Thank you for your prayers and support.
The 8th Annual Ministries retreat will start next Saturday, March 5th with Mass and throughout the day there will be presentations and workshops on the Liturgy from guests throughout the Archdiocese. Sign up online at https://sthyacinth.org/8th-annual-ministries-retreat-3-5-22 .
With the season of lent, we welcome our Friday Fish Fry sponsored by our Knights of Columbus. Every Friday during Lent, the K of Cs will make available delicious fish dinners in Guyot Hall. It’s a great testament to stewardship in action, so thank you brother Knights!
Also on every Friday during Lent, we will have Stations of the Cross in the Church. Unfortunately, due to shipping and supply chain issues, the new stations of the cross have not arrived, however, we will improvise with the old Stations of the cross until the new Stations arrive. I hope many of you will want to spend 30-45 minutes on Friday with this popular Lenten devotion. It’s a great way to spend a Friday evening and come for dinner and stay for Stations.
Finally, Over the last few months, Pope Francis has charged the Churches all over world to participate in a Synod for the Church. Pope Francis wants to hear from the whole Church about what is happening in local parishes. He and the bishops would like to know what individuals think we should all be doing to help make our parishes better. Lat week, a few of our parishioners, led by our Director of Faith Formation Mrs. Pamela Johnson, attended a worship to help train parish participates in the Synodal process of the Church. Next, these participates will be sharing their knowledge of the process with the various groups in our parish to receive feedback on the Popes goal to make our parishes thrive.
