The Fourth Sunday of Easter is known as Good Shepherd Sunday. Jesus tells us in the gospels this week that “ My sheep hear my voice; I know them and they follow me.” We are called to discern Gods call in our lives and Jesus gives us the grace to do so. Listening to the voice of God required us to be open to his love and will. We can love because we have the love of God in our lives. Therefore, we can listen because we know that the one who loves us will never let us move in a direction that is counter to him.
For 2022, Cardinal DiNardo has assessed our parish DSF goal at $84,000. DSF supports more than 60 ministries and programs that serve the faithful of the Archdiocese and us here at St. Hyacinth. As an incentive to give to DSF, there will be a 50% rebate on the total amount given by first time DSF donors. For example, if a first time donor (someone who have never given to DSF before) makes a gift to our parish of $50, the parish will receive a rebate of $25. Envelopes are in the narthex or you can go online and give at : https://www.archgh.org/ways-to-give/diocesan-services-fund-dsf/donate-to-dsf/ Thank you in your generosity in supporting DSF 2022.
Next, please keep in prayer all of the young people of our parish. This past Saturday we celebrated the first of two first communion Masses. The next First communion Mass will be celebrated next Saturday. Please give all those who have celebrated their first communion your prayers and congratulations.
Next, Cardinal Danial DiNardo will be the Celebrant for the Confirmation Mass which is scheduled for this upcoming Wednesday evening at 7:00pm. Please continue to pray for all the young people of our parish who will be participating in the Confirmation celebrations. I want to give a special congratulations to Our Faith Formation team consisting of our Director of Faith Formation , Mrs. Pamella Johnson and the Confirmation team who have all been working very hard over the past few months to make sure that all the details for Confirmation are ready.
Finally, 2022 marks 10 years of my being pastor here at St. Hyacinth. It has been a wonderful challenge serving the people of St Hyacinth. Over the last 10 years, I have done my best to make sure that everyone who steps into the doors of St. Hyacinth know God loves them and that they are welcome into His house. I know along the way that there have been challenges and that some have just simply walked away because of me. However, I have not let the negativity effect me in my mission of be a priest and pastor. As we move forward, I want everyone to know that as pastor, I will continue to seek the best for St Hyacinth and promote the love of Christ, until I am call to share the love of Christ with another community.
Finally, Cardinal DiNardo has released a statement in regards to the nation wide pro- abortion protests that are scheduled for this wekeend troughout the Untied States. You can read his statment on our website.
Please be aware, while you are teeendting services this sunday, o any strangers that will try to disrupt our services, and let one of the ushers know to that the proper precatutions.
On behalf of the St. Hyacinth parish Community, we will to all the Mother's of the community a blessed and happy Mothers day.
