This week we are called to reflect on Jesus’ gift of his very own body and blood in the context of our developing a notion of discipleship. This solemnity challenges us to move our Eucharistic piety beyond prayer and liturgy to a lived, expression of the love that the Eucharist embodies. We as Catholics believe in the transformation of bread and wine into the body and blood of Christ. Now we are called through the Eucharist to allow transformation in ourselves to take place to become Disciples of Christ.
This weekend STHY will conduct the Archdiocese annual Corpus Christi collection for the support of the men studying for the Priesthood for our Archdiocese. I will encourage everyone to please be generous in supporting our seminarians. Our Archdiocesan seminarians study not only at St. Mary’s seminary here in Houston, but also in seminaries in Dallas and San Antonio Texas, St. Benedict Louisiana, and Rome. This Sunday’s ENTIRE church collection goes towards the costs associated with the operating of St. Mary’s Seminary as well as the expenses of the education of seminarians, the continuing education of priests and the training of permanent deacons and laity. Thank you for your generosity.

Kick off some summer fun with the Father’s Family Feasts and dance to be held on June 30th in Guyot Hall. Everyone is welcome to celebrate Father’s day with fun and dancing sponsored by the Music department of STHY.
Summer is almost here and that means Vacation Bible School. Registration is ongoing for this yearly event which will be held July 10th -14th in Guyot Hall. This year’s theme will be “Maker Fun Factory”. VBS kids will experience God’s Word in surprising and unforgettable ways. This VBS event is a wonderful time for our young people to explore their relationship with Christ and the Church. Last year VBS had over 140 kids participating along with over 50 teen and adult volunteers helping our young people grow in their relationship with Christ and the Church. If you have time to volunteer this summer, the Vacation Bible School would be a great place for you to help. You can register for VBS on line at sthyacinth.org, or in the Faith Formation office.
As we gear up for the summer, I want to make you all aware of the 2017 Annual Archdiocesan Youth Conference which takes place this year on July 28-30th at the Hilton Americas Hotel in downtown Houston under the theme “Holiness” The primary focus for A.Y.C. is to rejuvenate the faith life of our youth, to help them get serious about life in Christ and His Church, and to learn the truth of the Gospel. All who participate will be blessed with powerful witness and messages from major presenters including our own Cardinal DiNardo. The A.Y.C. 2016 was a major success with a record number 2500 young people participating in the event from throughout our Archdiocese. For A.Y.C. 2017, we are hoping to send a number of our young people to this event so that we can help them grow in their faith.
Registration for A.Y.C. 2017 is currently underway. If you would like to sponsor a young person for this event, contact our Faith Formation office. For our young people who are eligible to attend the conference, registration for A.Y.C. 2017 ends soon. Please continue to pray for the young people of our parish. I want to thank everyone for your thoughtful response to our request for a pledge to our parish capital campaign. We are at the $1 Million pledge mark for our parish. Together, great things can be accomplished building Faith Family and Future….. Our Sanctuary … our Home.
