Jesus is the bread that comes down from heaven. In this weeks’ reading we continue with the Bread of Life discourse from the Gospel of John. Jesus speaks of the fulfillment of the work of God in the Old Testament. We have an invitation to taste and see God’s goodness and make Jesus a part of us through the Eucharist. As we prepare to proclaim the good news, we must remember the invitation of Jesus.
In St. Paul’s letter to the Ephesians this week, St. Paul talks about removing “all bitterness, fury , anger, shouting and reviling’ within us. We are all called to examine our own behavior and make sure that we are representing Christ to everyone in spite of how we feel. I constantly tell the people that come for counseling in my office that you are entitled to how you feel, however, no one else is entitled to how you feel. I other words, if you angry, own your own anger, however, no one else deserves for you to take your anger out on them.

Finally, please continue to pray for all of the communities affected by Hurricane Beryl. As we move towards recovery, let us support the mission and ministry of our St. Vincent De Paul society by bringing in grocery store gift cards of the amounts of $25.00 to be distributed to all those in need in our community. We are called to do our part in response to the call for help. (Drop the gift cards in the collection basket and the gift cards will be given to St. Vincent De Paul members to distribute).
