On this last weekend o fthe liturgical year, we celebrate the solemnity of Christ the king, the Anointed one of God who come to treve4al the turth of God's love for all of us. As we come together to honro Christ our King, we are called to prepare ourselves to be open to share in the fullness of life with him in Glory. In the kingdom of CHrist, we are loveningly embraced by the beloved Son who will for us salvation and fullness of life.
For 2020, Cardinal DiNardo has assessed our parish DSF goal at $84,000. This year, our parish has collected $61,887 towards our goal. We have until the end of the year to collect our goal. DSF supports more than 60 ministries and programs that serve the faithful of the Archdiocese and us here at St. Hyacinth. From Catholic chaplains at the hospitals and the Port of Houston, to religious education training for our teachers (who pass on their faith to our children), to outreach to seniors, to youth ministry, to soup kitchens, to Catholic Charities ministry to the poor and disenfranchised, and to training for seminarians, deacons and priests, the DSF provides funding for people and program that serve us all. There is only two months left until the end of the year to cover the $21,069 deficit in DSF. If we do not make our DSF goal for the year, the balance that is due will come directly out of the operating expense of the parish. Thank you for your generosity.
Unfortunately this year due to Church COVID -19 guidelines we will not be able to place the STHY Angel tree in the narthex of the Church; however, the 2020 Angel Tree project will continue in a new way with the gift of gift cards. We are asking everyone to donate gift cards in the amount of $20 - $40 this year. (Cash Cannot Be Accepted). Beginning next weekend, please drop off Gift Cards ONLY in our special clear collection boxes at the back of the Church and in the Narthex marked Gift Cards for Angel Tree.
The next opportunity for you to give is to the parish itself. The 2020 STHY gift list is out and this presents a great opportunity to support our parish in a special way to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ. Check out the list in the bulletin or Sthaycinth.org and see how you can share the gift of Christmas with STHY
We are living in constantly changing times, but two things that are not changing are our devotion to our parish and it's needs. We know many of our lives have been turned upside down in the last 8 months. The STHY has been too. We need, same as you, to know what's coming in so we can budget what goes out. I'm asking you to give DIFFERENTLY. By going to the website and signing up for RECURRING online giving, you let the parish know we can count on your support weekly. Register for Online giving at https://membership.faithdirect.net/TX526. Thank you the time is NOW and the need is CRITICAL.
Next, registration for Faith Formation classes is currently happening. All classes for all grades will be offered online through January 2021. Families will be able to work at their own pace as they follow the online home study material that will be provided. To register please go to https://sthyacinth.org/student-registration. Thank you for your patience as we seek the best ways to serve the young people of our parish.
Finally, For the Thanksgiving holiday, we will have a special Thanksgiving Day Mass at 10:00 am here at STHY. On behalf of all of us here at STHY, we wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving. The parish offices will be closed on Wednesday November 25th, Thursday November 26th and Friday November 27th. Have a blessed thanksgiving Holiday.
