First, I want to thank everyone for their prayers as we move forward with the restoration of St. Hyacinth.
Many of you have asked about helping with the cleanup of the Church facilities. First, thank you for your willingness to help, however, the contractors of the Archdiocese are handling cleanup, restoration, storing and infrastructure and building repairs. Currently, it is simply not safe to have anyone on the facilities at this time will all of the heavy equipment that is around.
Please be ready however, there will be a need to have as many people as we can with the help of restoring the parish facilities.
Here is an update.
I will do my best to give everyone St. Hyacinth updates on a regular basis.
Feel free to pass on the information about our parish.
The EF3 tornado has completely destroyed the older Religious Education building. The structure is currently being secured, stabilized and boarded up and will soon have to be taken down.
The main Church received minimum damage. There is some damage to the roof, and one of the windows in the Church and one window in the narthex has been taken out due to the tornado.
The parish offices were affected by the tornado and we can no longer occupy the offices. The contractors have moved everything out of the offices into storage. We are working with the contractors to move the parish offices to another location on the complex.
The rectory and Guyot Hall received moderate damage, especially to the roof and the AC units on the roof.
Currently, there is no power nor water services to the facilities.
The Contractors are currently working to restore power to the buildings along with Water services, and we should have full power shortly through generators connected to the parish facilities.
We will let you know when we are able to resume our St. Hyacinth Church activities, soo be on the look out for further parish updates.
I ask for your prayers and patience as we access the circumstances that we are facing.
Please pray for our Church and the Community of Deer Park.
