Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ


                Today concludes the Paschal feast that bean fifty days ago on Easter Sunday. In the gospel, Jesus gives us the gift of the Holy Spirit by breathing on the disciples. The gift of the Holy Spirit enables us to know that the gifts that God gives us are unique to us and we are called to use those gifts for the Glory of God. S. Paul reminds us that all gifts come from God. Instead of comparing our abilities and talents to those around us, let us focus on how we can use our gifts for the good of all.

For this Sunday’s Mass we will sing the Pentecost sequence before the Gospel reading. Along with the Easter Sunday sequence, these sequences remain the only two mandatory parts of the liturgy that introduces the Gospel in the Catholic Church. The text of the sequence is an invitation for the Holy Spirit to enter our lives with practical manifestations of divine power and love.

  The first phase of the Church renovation will be starting in a next few week with the replacement of both the heating and cooling systems for the Church and Church complex. The heating system has already failed and is no longer working, and the HVAC system is currently failing and needs to be replaced due to its age. This will be a major undertaking to replace our aged system of the parish. The heating and HVAC systems of the Church are interconnected with the Religious Education building soo the work will be extensive.

  Furthermore, we have signed a contract with Studio Red Architects who will help guide us on phase two of the renovation of the Church. Studio Red Architects have provided their services to several of our parishes here in the Archdiocese, and I am confident they will be able to lead us in the renovation of our fifthly plus year old church. One of our parish goals in 2021 is to increase the number of families supporting St Hyacinth using Faith Direct. Currently we have 211 families using Faith Direct and hopefully by the end of the year we can have at least 325 families of STHY on Faith Direct. Finally, we will have our Mass of Confirmation for young people this coming Tuesday evening. The new Auxiliary Bishop Italo Oro will be the celebrate of Confirmation. Please congratulate and pray for the new bishop for the Archdiocese of Galveston Houston and please congratulate the young people of our parish on their confirmation.
