As Christians we are called on my Jesus to be light for the world. To love as Jesus himself loves. We respond to hate with compassion, empathy and mercy. We are called to forgive others and to see the good in spite of how we feel or what has been done to us. This is a very high aspiration on our part, however, God give us the grace to live this life.
The official start date for DSF 2019 is next weekend with “DSF Commitment Sunday.” Cardinal DiNardo is sending everyone an appeal letter and pledge card and he wants to encourage each and every one to become involved with DSF 2019. I know that we are in difficult economic times, yet each of us has been blessed in so many ways, and we are called to share those blessings with others.

Now is the time for giving, and we can all do our part, pledge. Thank you for doing your part to help us reach our goal.

There will be several parish repair and improvement projects that are currently on the schedule at STHY over the next several months. . First, we have to complete the replacement of several more of the lighting fixtures in the main Church (back of church and narthex) due to electrical shorting and arcing. The cost of the repairs is estimated to be $4000. (We had this problem five years ago with the lighting above the altar and we replaced all of the lighting with LED lighting.) We have already replaced several of the fixtures soo far.
We are currently working on new signage for the church complex as well. There is a need to update the signage. Hopefully the signage project will be completed by Easter 2019.
There is an ongoing problem with water leaks in the main Church water is coming into the Church and is pooling near the back sacristy and Altar. We are working with the Archdiocese and several building consultants to ascertain and contain the problem.
Over the next few months our attention will be focused on the making the necessary continued repairs on the Center Street Parking lot. We are currently working on accepting bids from contractors. The Center Street parking lot is overdue to be repainted and sealed. There has already been extensive repairs made to Center Street parking lot over the last few months; moreover, now we have to make sure that there is no more continued damage to the parking lot due to use and weather. Soo far the cost estimates for the repairs of the Center street parking lot are between $10,000 to $15,000. Most likely this project will not be completed by the end of summer 2019. Thank you for your generosity to our Parish Improvement fund.
