Ther feast of the Ascension ushers the Church into a week of waiting. Jesus has scended into heave and the Holy Spirit has not yet come down. The celebration of Pentecost is still days away. It is uncomfortable to wait, yet the Church pauses at this time to reflect and ponder on how the original disciples felt at the time of Jesus’ Ascension. The Ascension allows us to celebrate the gap in which Jesus bridged between heaven and earth.
I want to thank everyone who made and participated in our Spring Festival 2024. The entire complex was packed with games and activities. I think that everyone who attended had a great time. We are still working on the results and will have the final tallies to you soon. Let me again express my sincere thanks to our dedicated core committee, led by Mr. Raul Turner, our Spring Festival Chairperson and hosts festival volunteers for all of their hard work and efforts. We’re already looking forward to Spring Festival 2025!
St Hyacinth, like every parish in the archdiocese, has a set goal for the 2024 Diocesan Services Fund. Currently our goal is $81,200. Your help is crucial in meeting this goal, which will provide the necessary funds for the ministries that help hundreds of thousands every year.
Special Youth Services is a DSF funded program which models the embrace of Christ through pastoral care, advocacy, and faith sharing in local juvenile justice centers, facilities, and programs. This ministry encompasses all counties within our Archdiocese, working with youth from ages 10-17.
Like all of the other 63 ministries in the Archdiocese, Special Youth Services is supported by the Diocesan Services Fund (DSF). Each year, programs supported by the DSF provide services that live out the Gospel message and bring Christ into our communities. 100% of every dollar given to the DSF goes directly to supporting ministries in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. You can learn more about the DSF and how your support makes a difference by visiting www.archgh.org/dsf
One of our parish goals in 2024 is to increase the number of families supporting St Hyacinth using electronic and online giving. Currently we less than 200 families using electronic giving. You can register in less than five minutes by logging sthaycinth.org and simply go to the online giving page on our website and sign up for online giving at https://sthyacinth.org/online-giving.
Finally, I want to wish all the mothers of our parish community a happy and blessed Mother’s Day. Please remember and pray for those who have lost their own mothers over the years and pray especially for all the mothers of our community that have lost children as well.
