This week we are called to reflect on Jesus’ gift of his very own body and blood in the context of our developing a notion of discipleship. This solemnity challenges us to move our Eucharistic piety beyond prayer and liturgy to a lived, expression of the love that the Eucharist embodies. We as Catholics believe in the transformation of bread and wine into the body and blood of Christ. Now we are called through the Eucharist to allow transformation in ourselves to take place to become Disciples of Christ.
This weekend STHY will conduct the Archdiocese annual Corpus Christi collection for the support of the men studying for the Priesthood for our Archdiocese. I will encourage everyone to please be generous in supporting our seminarians. Our Archdiocesan seminarians study not only at St. Mary’s seminary here in Houston, but also in seminaries in Dallas Texas, St. Benedict in Louisiana, and the North American College Seminary in Rome. This Sunday’s ENTIRE church collection goes towards the costs associated with the operating of St. Mary’s Seminary as well as the expenses of the education of seminarians, the continuing education of priests and the training of permanent deacons and laity. Thank you for your generosity.
Preparation and registration has begun for the Archdiocesan Youth Conference (AYC) which gathers participants from all over the local Church. AYC is the largest evangelizing event for older adolescents that the Archdiocese hosts annually. The youth conference will be held at the Hilton Americas Hotel on July 29-31, 2022. For more information and to access the registration packets, Contact Tim Colbert at [email protected] if you have any questions.

One of our parish goals in 2022 is to increase the number of families supporting St Hyacinth using Faith Direct. Currently we have 211 families using online giving. As you have seen in the bulletin weekly, summer time is a time in which donations decline in the parish. You can register for online giving by just simply going to our parish website Sthyacinth.org.
This year we will celebrate the 57th anniversary of the founding of St Hyacinth. For this year’s celebration, the weekend of August 20th - 21st. there will be a time of of prayer, remembrance, and celebration. There will be giveaways, and fun throughout the weekend culminating with the raffle of wonderful prizes. Soo, please mark your calendars for this wonderful celebration .
For our parish anniversary, I would like for the parish to begin a collection for a Statue of St. Hyacinth. We should have a representation of our patron saint in our Church, and we are the only Catholic Church named after St Hyacinth in the United States that does not have a statue of our patron saint. A four-foot custom-made linden wood and painted statue of St Hyacinth will cost approximately $18K. (The handmade statue would have St. Hyacinth holding a monstrance and a little statue of a Madonna with Child). We have placed a special donation box is in the Narthex as well as a a picture of the statue. You can give online at https://sthyacinth.org/statue-of-st-hyacinth as well. Thank you for your support in precuring a statue for our Church.
