The Prophet Isaiah urges the people to “Observe what is right, do what is just.” Where justice is lacking in our community or nation, we are all called to be advocates of justice. As the Canaanite woman in our gospel reading this week is persistent in her request that Jesus heal her daughter, we have to be persistent in requesting Justice for all people.

We have just completed the ‘Parishioner Call Project’ a few weeks ago. This project consisted of the Staff of St. Hyacinth calling and contacting every parishioner in our community to check the wellbeing of everyone during our time of disruption and change in our community and country. If you did not receive a call from St. Hyacinth over the last few weeks, please call and let us know that you are doing ok and to update your contact information.
A Picture's Worth a Thousand Words Text: Check out this graph at the top of this email. Unfortunately, the line is going in the wrong direction. The months of social distancing have had a catastrophic effect on our weekly offertory. But we have a solution. Sign up for our Fast, Easy, SECURE online giving HERE. When you make a recurring offertory gift, you do your part to level our graph and get that line moving back up. And it's paperless, worry free, and automated. The system even keeps track of additional donations for Holy Days and Holidays and calculates your tax benefits for the end of the year. Sign up today! Go to: https://membership.faithdirect.net/TX526
Open our Hearts: a Pastoral letter on racism was released in 2018 by the United States Catholic Conference of Bishops. The USCCB describes this letter as “But racism still profoundly affects our culture, and it has no place in the Christian heart. This evil causes great harm to its victims, and it corrupts the souls of those who harbor racist or prejudicial thoughts. The persistence of the evil of racism is why we are writing this letter now.” I am challenging every one of our parish to go download this letter and review it. You can go to Sthyacinth.org and click directly on the banner/ tile named “Open our Hearts” and it will take you to the pastoral letter.
