Faith requires perseverance, especially in times of distress and suffering. In these moments, we believe in the God of Justice works for the good of all. In our Gospel reading this Sunday, The disciples ask Jesus to increase their faith. This request of Jesus seems reasonable and Jesus answers the disciple and us to let us know that the faith is already in us and we have to allow it to grow in order for it to work.
First I want to thank everyone who came out and supported our annual Ministry Fair and Stewardship weekend. Now is the time to follow-up with for the various ministries of our parish and volunteer.
October is Respect Life Month today is Respect for Life Sunday. There will be a ‘Prayer Chain’ to witness against the horrors of abortion on Center Street. Those that are interested are called to meet in Guyot Hall immediately after the noon Mass and then gather on Center Street to stand silently from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm. If you are not able to be a part of the prayer chain, please pray for those who will be participating for our community.
Last month marked the beginning of our participation in the Archdiocese of Galveston - Houston IGNITE Capital campaign. The IGNITE campaign is composed of 6 distinct case elements. Five of the case elements: Seminary renovations, Catholic Education Scholarships, Faith Formation Funding, Harvey Relief, and a Future Disaster Fund will touch every Catholic in out Diocese, today and for generations to come. We will also be keeping one third of all the monies raised in out parish. That’s the 6th case element. Each parish will be able to make improvements as their needs dictate. As we know, our needs dictate the Guyot Hall updates. By working together, we will be able to replace the flooring and lighting system, making Guyot Hall a more hospitable gathering place for us as a parish community.
Several weeks ago, we handed out brochures containing an outline of the IGNITE campaign. This brochure included information on the case elements, our parish case and the upcoming reception schedule for the parish. Please check your schedule for an available reception date and place it on your calendar. We would like for each of you to attend a reception. We will come together to learn more about the campaign and how it will help us grow our parish. Please RSVP one of the receptions at [email protected].
Mark your calendars to join us for “Trunk or Treat” - our annual fun day for the young people of the parish on Saturday, October 26th from 4:00 pm -8:00 pm in Guyot Hall. At STHY we are always looking for ways to serve our neighbors and strengthen families, so we always look forward to this time to fellowship and get to know each other. Dress up the kids and come enjoy and celebrate the fall season.
